Book Sales This Weekend

Now that the weather is supposed to be clearing up, the good rummage sales are all being held indoors. You know where I'll be Saturday morning...

1) St. Thomas More School Book Sale

8 a.m. - Noon
School Gym, 920 Carmichael Street (off 15-501), Chapel Hill.
Hardcover and paperback books, videos, DVDs, CDs and cassette tapes will be sold for $7 per bag. All proceeds benefit the St. Thomas More School Library.

2) Chapel of the Cross ABC (Attic/Basement/Closet) Sale

9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
304 E. Franklin St., Chapel Hill.
Not just books, but the book room alone is worth the trip. One of the best church rummage sales in the area. Proceeds benefit local community outreach. If I remember correctly from last year, they switch to a "bag sale" clearance for some merchandise during the last couple of hours of the sale, which makes it worth going twice if you really enjoy this kind of stuff and live only a half mile away -- early to get the best selection, and later to get the best deals.

While we're at it...

My, this seems to be the weekend for church rummage sales. Don't know if I'll bother trekking over to Durham when there's such fine selection in my own backyard, but I can't help noticing:

Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 549 Erwin Rd, Durham, NC, 27707
Friday 3-8; Saturday 7-2

White House of God, 1011 Junction Rd, Durham, NC, 27704
Saturday 7-Noon

Full Gospel of Christ Ministries, 1903 Apex Hwy (NC 55), Durham, NC 27707
Saturday 8-Noon

?? Hope Creek Church, 4723 Erwin Rd, Durham, NC 27705
(This one wasn't advertised, but there are signs up in front of the building)

And looking ahead:

Next Weekend: Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Annual Book Sale

4907 Garrett Rd, Durham, NC 27705
Preview party Friday, May 5, 5-7 p.m., $5 cover donation, refreshments served.
Main sale Saturday, May 6, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., no entrance fee.

Also Coming Soon: Rescued Treasures Thrift Shoppe

Corwallis Rd and Hwy 55, Durham
Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Proceeds benefit the Durham Rescue Mission.
Reportedly opening May 1, although the most recent issue of the Mission's newsletter had the grand opening event posted for May 19.

So. You can't say I didn't warn you. You can say that I didn't warn you early enough and you've already made more important plans, and you would have a valid point. Nonetheless, I hope to see some of y'all at some of these fun events. (Dr. Jacqueline, wanna make a date to check out Rescued Treasures sometime?)
