Books books books books books

It must be back-to-school time. I turned my Amazon seller's account back on after my trip out west, and sold eight books in 36 hours. Which is good, because I need the money to cover my controlled splurge at the baptist yard sale last weekend. It was a bit disappointing to walk into a smallish book room and see mostly fiction, but the religion section was decent (as one would certainly hope among high-brow lefty baptists), and I made a few interesting utterly random finds.

But enough about opportunities come and gone. Triangle-area used book junkies rejoice, there are multiple near-term opportunities to expand your already bulging personal library.

This Weekend:

Friends of the Chapel Hill Public Library quarterly booksale. For best selection, buy a membership ($25) at the door on Friday afternoon. If you go to the bag day clearance on Sunday, get there before they open the doors at 1 p.m., because the place is completely picked over in the first 20 minutes.

Right Now!

Through August 31, the PTA Thrift Shop (Carrboro location only) is having a major book clearance, 50 cents for most hardbacks and 25 cents for most paperbacks. Restocking throughout.

Coming Attractions:

Sept. 28-30: Friends of the Pittsboro Memorial Library book sale.

Sept. 29 - Oct. 1: Friends of the Durham County Library book sale.
