Identity Crisis

Things I have more or less always been that I am not anymore:

1) The oldest sibling who always reaches major life milestones first.

2) The skinny girl who is always a size small, no matter what she eats or how sporadically she exercises.

3) The full-time student whose job it is to take formal classes.

4) The best student in the school. (This one went by the wayside years ago, but it's taken a while to catch up with my psyche.)

5) The good girl who never gets in any kind of trouble. (No, I'm not going to elaborate; let your imaginations run wild.)

6) The unfailingly responsible one who never messes up any details.

7) The one who is actually able to pull off "perfection" on most things she tries (or she doesn't try them).

8) The girl who doesn't date. (Another one that bit the dust a few years back, but still rules in my self-perception.)

No wonder I'm experiencing psychological disorientation.

Well, it is true that dating tends to be an awful lot of trouble, but that's not exactly what I had in mind.

If I ever need to borrow money to make bail, I'll keep you in mind.
