Every language is stupid

I know full well that for a native English speaker to complain about the idiosyncrasies of other people's languages is an exemplary exercise in the pot calling the kettle black. So I'll just say that I'm glad I learned English back when my mind was still wired for language-learning rather than having to make sense of it later on.

I have pret' much given up on ever attaining anything like fluency in any language other than my mother tongue. Still, there is something to the observation that the more languages you study, the easier it gets to navigate the rudiments of their linguistic structure. Linguistics is (are?) fun! Too bad I have to spend all my time memorizing structures and vocab instead of marvelling at the beauty of language.

German exam early next week. Wish me Glück.
