a book nerd's kind of party

Rough timeline:

Late 2007 (around the time I decide to move to Oxnard): I read something about the Los Angeles Times annual Festival of Books, and think that it definitely sounds like something worth checking out now that I'm going to be in that neck of the woods.

May 2008: I remember that I had intended to check into the LAT Festival of Books, only to discover that I had missed it by a week and a half. Resolve to pay closer attention next year.

April 19, 2009, 12:43 p.m.: I suddenly recall that the Festival of Books happens in the spring, and spring is half over, and I might have been a big enough dope to miss it two years running.

April 19, 2009, 12:48 p.m.: I discover, to my relief and chagrin, that I have not managed to miss the Festival of Books two years running, although I cut it awfully close. As it turns out, it's next weekend, and ticket reservations openned about an hour ago.

April 25, 2009, 12:20 p.m.: I plan to be at UCLA's Young Hall awaiting a talk with author Marilynne Robinson. The rest of the day I'll be wandering the exhibits and shows on the main stages.
