Fiddling Accompli

Good news! I survived my template transition with no pulling out of my hair!  This is all the more remarkable since tweaking my new template to my own specs involved some editing in CSS, and I have NO IDEA what I'm doing when I work with CSS. So it could have been a complete fiasco.

There are still a few things that I haven't worked out to my own ultimate satisfaction. (Like those tabs up at the top of the page that say "About" and "Archives"? I haven't figured out how to get them to, you know, work.) But I have to tell myself, it's a freaking personal blog. With a readership of, like, five people, four of whom are my immediate relatives. It does not have to be perfect.

And anyway, isn't it so much prettier than before? It makes me smile. So, thank you: BloggerStyles, for hosting the template for free, Smashing Magazine, for publishing the theme in the first place, and Gosublogger, for translating it for Blogger. I have these grand ambitions of someday designing my entire blog template from scratch, but in the multi-year meantime, this is a nice change of scenery.

As one of your 5 loyal readers, I had to comment that I was very disappointed when your "About" and "Archives" tabs didn't work. I about lost it!

Hee, hee. I like the new look.

Hey, make that six. I read too. And yes, it is most beautiful. I love orange and blue. It's like a sunset.

Woot! Seven in the house! I love this template. I thoroughly despise CSS, and the feeling is mutual. It's always kicking my butt.

That said, let me know if you want me to try to figure out that About situation for you. I might — might — be able to. I'll take a look and see.

Thanks for the offer, Lauren. But if I got the "About" tab working, that would mean I would actually have to write an "About" page, which I'm not really interested in doing. So I've decided I'm not in any particular hurry to sort that out. :)
